Business Systems Analyst (Process Mapping & Controls Infrastructure)
Client: Big 5 Bank
Location: Downtown Toronto. 1-2 days per week in office.
Duration of Contract/Perm: 6-month contract with potential to extend or convert
Hours/week: 37.5 hours/week
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile professional to place at our client. This hybrid role combines the expertise of a Business Analyst in Controls Infrastructure with Documentation System Development experience. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in business analysis and full-stack web development, particularly within the Financial Services industry. This role involves reviewing existing controls, creating process maps,
developing a control repository, and designing a content/documentation management system.

Key Responsibilities:
- Review all existing controls and working papers to assess the current state.
- Create "as is" and "to be" process maps, identifying inefficiencies and gaps.
- Develop a comprehensive control repository aligned with the controls testing Handbook.
- Collaborate with developers to ensure the repository aligns with mapped processes.
- Develop standardized test programs for grouped working papers.
- Train participants on revised controls processes.
- Document revised processes and create standardized templates and SOPs.
- Full-stack web development with a focus on content/documentation management systems.
- Evaluate and recommend platforms for the web-based repository.
- Design repository architecture to support centralized control documentation, metadata tagging, and advanced search functionality.
- Develop flexible reporting intelligence and performance dashboards.
- Preprocess data for AI/ML analysis and develop generative AI text creation and NLP capabilities.
- Administer role-based access controls and implement pilot workflows.
- Address technical feedback from pilots and enhance repository and workflows.
- Integrate notifications, escalations, and task progress tracking.
- Collaborate with QA automation initiatives to ensure workflows meet quality standards.
- Develop an automation roadmap for future phases, focusing on repetitive task automation.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong process analysis and mapping skills, with expertise in tools like Visio.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements and controls testing.
- Experience working with control frameworks and creating test programs.
- Proficiency in collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for developing clear documentation and delivering training.
- Expertise in web platform development (e.g., SharePoint, GRC tools, custom-built solutions).
- Expertise in workflow design and implementation, including task automation and notifications.
- Experience with metadata design and search optimization for centralized repositories.
- Familiarity with QA automation tools and techniques.
- Voracious reader.
- Experience Level: 7+ years in business analysis and development roles, preferably in the Financial Services industry and repository or workflow-based projects.
