Position Summary
Seal Swimming is seeking a dedicated Aquatic Leadership Instructor to deliver high-quality, interactive leadership courses to participants of all ages.
The ideal candidate will create a dynamic and supportive learning environment, tailoring instructional materials to meet the diverse needs of our learners. The Aquatic Leadership Instructor will ensure a safe and positive experience by adhering to all safety protocols and facility guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct engaging leadership training sessions for all participants.
- Develop and prepare instructional materials that accommodate various learning styles.
- Continuously evaluate candidates against Lifesaving Society and Seal Swimming standards, providing feedback throughout the course and during final evaluations.
- Complete administrative tasks such as maintaining attendance records, tracking candidate progress, and submitting course documentation and test sheets promptly.
- Report any concerns regarding facility safety, candidate progress, or incidents to the immediate supervisor for timely resolution.
- Maintain constant vigilance while on duty, strictly following all safety and lifeguarding protocols, and respond appropriately in emergencies.
- Enforce all rules and regulations to ensure a safe environment, proactively maintaining order and preventing accidents.
- Set up and dismantle lane ropes and other equipment as required, ensuring all equipment is safe and reporting any malfunctions or damage immediately.
- Perform necessary maintenance duties, including facility closing procedures, cleaning and disinfecting areas, and conducting pool chemistry tests.
- Adhere to Seal Swimmings complaints process, responding to customer concerns promptly and professionally.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience teaching National Lifeguard (NL), Standard First Aid Instructor, Aquatic Supervisor Training (AST), and/or Examiner courses.
- Current Lifeguard certification.
- Current Standard First Aid certification.
- Certifications in the respective courses that you are qualified to teach, such as:
- Current National Lifeguard Instructor and Examiner.
- Current AST Instructor certification.
- Current Lifesaving Instructor and Bronze Examiner certification.
- Current Swim or Lifesaving Instructor Trainer (IT) Award.
- An acceptable Vulnerable Sector screening check.
Work Conditions
- Ability to remain in a stationary position and move around the pool for extended periods.
- Some repetitive tasks and manual dexterity required for operating phones and computers.
- Capability to lift or move up to 50 lbs or more in an emergency situation.
