Are you ready to shape the future of HR in a growing and dynamic environment? We are seeking a passionate, driven, and bilingual HR Generalist to be the primary HR professional for our newly established Engineering Team in Quebec and rest of the team in Canada. This person will support recruitment and HR operations in Canada with a focus in Quebec. This role involves managing the full employee lifecycle, from sourcing and recruiting to onboarding and ensuring compliance with employment laws. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of Canada’s laws with a specific focus on Quebec's unique HR landscape, be fluent in French and English, and bring experience working across other Canadian provinces.
This position is based in Quebec and requires residency within the province. A hybrid work schedule may be considered.
Areas of Accountability:
As an HR Generalist focused on Canada with specific competency in Quebec HR employment laws, your responsibilities will include:
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition:
- Lead end to end recruitment efforts for roles across Quebec, ensuring compliance with regional labor laws and cultural practices.
- Develop and maintain a robust talent pipeline by proactively sourcing and engaging qualified candidates.
- Facilitate the onboarding process for new hires in Quebec in collaboration with HR Coordinator, ensuring a seamless transition into the company.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to create compelling job descriptions, evaluate candidates, and provide recommendations for hiring.
- Partner with local educational institutions, professional organizations, and community groups to support hiring initiatives.
HR Operations & Compliance:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for HR-related inquiries from employees and managers in Canada.
- Develop and streamline HR processes, create, and maintain process documents, maintain personnel files and organizational charts.
- Ensure employee records are up to date and compliant with provincial and federal laws, including work permits and authorization documentation.
- Ensure timely and accurate HRIS system data entry, including personnel information changes and job requisitions; assist with recurring HR reporting and basic analysis.
- Support employee lifecycle logistics, including offboarding processes and documentation management.
- Process leaves of absence and ADA accommodations for Canada.
- Build and administer employee benefits programs, including eligibility, enrollment, and compliance tracking.
- Support annual HR processes such as open enrollment, performance reviews, and compliance reporting.
- Audit and ensure compliance with required online training programs, including harassment prevention and other regulatory requirements.
- Schedule meetings, interviews, HR events and maintain agendas.
Collaboration & Reporting:
- Partner with the global HR team to support HR initiatives Canada-wide.
- Collaborate with HR Analyst to develop HR reports and track metrics to ensure efficient operations and highlight areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with Payroll and IT to ensure employee data accuracy and enhance the employee experience.
Engagement & Culture:
- Collaborate with global HR Team to design and implement programs to recognize and celebrate employees,
including rewards and recognition initiatives.
- Support the coordination of employee training and development programs tailored to Quebec’s workforce needs.
- Promote a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and compliance across the organization.
Business Partnering:
- Establish trusted partnerships across Canada by acting as a strategic and operational partner on all employee related functions including but not limited to performance management, organizational design, employee engagement, rewards, and workforce planning.
- Analyze, develop, and implement Human Resources policies and procedures that support employee engagement, productivity, and company objectives.
- Manage complex and sensitive employment and employee relations issues. Conduct investigations regarding discipline and complaints,
prepare reports with findings, and consult with department managers as needed.
- Contribute to HR team efforts to capture and share standards, best practices, external benchmarking, and innovative practices related to culture, change management, team effectiveness, strategy operationalization, organization design, and organization diagnosis
Competencies for Success:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, with 4+ years of HR experience.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English (written and spoken) is required.
- Residing in Quebec is mandatory, with familiarity across other Canadian provinces preferred.
- Knowledge of Quebec labor laws and HR best practices is essential.
- Experience with recruitment, sourcing, and onboarding processes.
- Preferred experience working in international markets, particularly India.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and HRIS systems.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
