The contract shall be for six months from the start date, with an option to extend it in six-month increments for up to an additional two years.

Toronto, ON - HYBRID Role

Working hours will be 35 hours per week

- The Procurement Specialist, reporting to the Category Manager, oversees Facility and Infrastructure procurements, ensuring the maintenance of essential infrastructure. This role involves sourcing and managing vendor relationships, coordinating the tendering process, and evaluating bids to secure competitive pricing. Additionally, the specialist prepares purchase orders and maintains communication with client departments to ensure timely availability of goods and services.





Qualification and Experience Requirements for Procurement Specialist

- Public Sector Experience: Knowledge and experience in public sector procurement, category management, contract administration, and tender/proposal evaluation.
- Supply Management Expertise: Proficient in strategic sourcing, contract law, negotiation techniques, and preparation of commercial contract documents. Familiarity with procurement vehicles such as ACANs, RFIs, RFBs, RFPs, NRFPs, and MSAs.
- Market Knowledge: Understanding of supply sources, market trends, materials management, customs charges, and sales taxes.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Word and Excel, with knowledge of materials management systems.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong organizational, administrative, analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills. Excellent reading comprehension and written communication abilities.
- Licensing: Valid non-probationary class "G" driving license and personal vehicle for vendor visits.
- Human Rights Knowledge: Must understand the Ontario Human Rights Code and related accessibility requirements.

Education:





- University Degree or College Diploma in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Assets:

- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, IFS).
- Membership in the Ontario Public Buyer Association.
- Professional procurement accreditation or enrollment in a certification program (e.g., Supply Chain Management Professional).
- Purchasing Certificate from OPBA or equivalent.
