New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company is seeking a Financial Reporting Analyst to support the portfolio carbon footprint assurance engagements for both Public and Private Markets, including infrastructure and private equity. The Analyst is responsible for ensuring timely, complete, and accurate preparation of internal and external valuation and financial reporting deliverables and supporting various projects including enhancements to deliverables to internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Valuations:
- Analyze ESG-related data from a variety of sources, including fund reports, audit reports and valuation reports.
- Source and validate ESG-related data,
including the enterprise value of investee companies extracted from the program and pool fund financial statement supporting packages, and provide this information to ESG team.
- Document the methodologies, assumptions, and data sources used in the ESG valuation process to ensure transparency and complete traceability of audit evidence.
- Prepare reports or summaries of valuation data for investments to support ESG reporting.
- Maintain comprehensive records of valuation activities, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Support internal and external audits of ESG data, including laisse with the external auditors during audits.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to optimize ESG reporting.
Financial Reporting:
- Assist with the timely, complete, and accurate preparation of internally and externally reported financial information.
- Assist with facilitating external auditor engagements, including responding to auditor queries and providing applicable supporting audit evidence.
- Prepare financial reporting analysis in accordance with IFRS to conclude on accounting issues for new investments and structures.
- Communicate with asset classes, external auditors, and other departments to resolve issues.
- Work under the supervision of the A/Manager, Financial Reporting, senior team members, and lead junior team members with various projects.
- Assist with the assessment and documentation of procedures and processes to support effective internal controls over internally and externally reported financial information.
Requirements:
- A professional accounting designation required (CPA, CA; CPA, CGA; CPA, CMA).
- A solid understanding of key valuation definitions, approaches, and methodologies.
- Ability to navigate through a large set of financial data, including financial statements, performance update, legal documents, etc. and ability to synthesize the information for valuation purposes.
- 3+ years accounting experience,
particularly with IFRS.
- One to two years of valuation experience, particularly with fair value reporting.
- Knowledge or experience in securities markets and investment accounting.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to plan assigned workload to meet strict deadlines.
- Advanced level Excel skills.
Preferred:
- Completed Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) Level 1 and 2.
- Experience with analytical tools such as Capital IQ and Bloomberg.
- Previous experience in a client-facing role.
- Previous audit experience, particularly with IFRS.
- Previous experience preparing audited financial statements.
- Located in Victoria, British Columbia.

The hourly rate range for this position is $45- $75, with the final rate based on consultant experience and fit for the role.
