Job Summary
The Research Assistant (RA) will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and members of the Perinatal Wellbeing Research Team. The research site is located at the Point Grey Campus, Department of Family Practice. The PI is an associate professor with the UBC Midwifery Program, and is conducting a program of research to define and develop clinical pathways to address perinatal mental health screening and management, in primary care settings, and to improve perinatal outcomes. The RA will work under direct supervision of the PI and the tasks will involve qualitative data preparation.
Organizational Status
The Perinatal Wellbeing Research Team is within the Midwifery Program, Department of Family Practice at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Under the direction of Dr. Hamideh Bayrampour, Associate Professor,
the team conducts research focused on maternal mental health and pregnancy outcomes.
Work Performed
Tasks include qualitative data preparation using previously collected interview data. The Research Assistant will perform research-related activities, including checking the recorded interview data for data verification. The Research Assistant will receive instructions and training on how to perform the task.
Consequence of Error/Judgement
Error can result in misclassification of research information. The occurrence of this error is unlikely as the RA will receive training and work closely with PI.
Supervision Received
The Research Assistant will be onboarded by a current member of the team, and the PI, and will work under direct supervision of the PI to complete the assigned task.

Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation and a minimum one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- College/university graduation is preferred.
- Familiar with research settings and qualitative data.
- Able to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Able to deal with a diversity of people in a calm, courteous, and effective manner
- Able to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
- The successful applicant will be keen to learn new skills and has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
