Wetherby Partners Executive Search is partnering with a dynamic, market leading, and growing technology solutions company in Canada. We are seeking to identify a Director of Finance reporting to the President to join our client’s team in the Greater Toronto area.
Our client is a dynamic, stable, and growing technology company and the Director of Finance position is a high visibility role reporting to the President with the opportunity to lead the finance function and drive impact and growth in an already incredibly profitable company.
Director Finance Responsibilities:
· As the head of Finance for the business, lead a high performing finance department and act as a key advisor to the President.
Proactively lead all FP&A; activities.
· Be a value creator. Identify opportunities to create value for the organization and develop industry leading processes.
· Demonstrate a collaborative approach that lifts financial acumen across the organization and supports broad company success
· Serve as a change agent, driving strategic initiatives and contributing to the evolution of our business model for sustainable growth.
· Assist the team in creating strong business cases for investments and product innovation. Capable of influencing the business to alter investment decisions that favorably affect organizational success and focus.
· Oversee the upgrading of the financial system.
· Ensure company finance and accounting aligns with the parent company requirements, including GAAP requirements for a publicly traded company.
· Complete the close cycle.
· Oversee a sound control environment, including identification of risk factors and managing an effective delegation of authority process
· Manage back-office processes and teams. Effectively provide oversight of local banking, receivables,
payables and payroll processes.
· Manage and develop the finance team
· Strike a balance between strategic talents and a willingness to roll up your sleeves to affect the business at a process level
· Develop ad hoc research regarding competitors, market trends, and pricing trends
· Serve as a change agent, driving strategic initiatives and contributing to the evolution of our business model for sustainable growth.
What We Need:
· A strategic thinker who is also willing to play a hands-on role as needed to execute deliverables.
· Experience at managing and developing high performing teams that includes back-office roles.
· Experience in actively delivering process improvements in previous roles.
· Passionate about delivering results with an appropriate urgency.
· A proven ability to impact the business through collaboration.
· Professional communication skills.
· Strong financial and business acumen with adherence to policies.
· Exceptional analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
· 5+ years in a leadership role with a finance team accountable for the broader range of financial accountabilities.
· Experience in a SaaS business is a positive.
· CPA certification is a positive.
· University degree in financial discipline and/or equivalent experience
