Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Credit Risk Manager , The Intermediate Credit Risk Analyst plays a critical role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating credit risks across our mortgage and deposit portfolios. You will leverage advanced analytical tools such as Alteryx, Tableau/Power BI to analyze data, develop models, and deliver actionable insights to guide decision-making. Additionally, you will help ensure regulatory compliance, monitor portfolio health, and contribute to the organization’s strategic growth by collaborating across teams. This position is ideal for someone with approximately five years of experience in the financial industry, a strong analytical mindset, and a passion for solving complex problems.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed assessments of credit risks across various portfolios, including mortgages and other lending products.
- Evaluate borrower creditworthiness and identify emerging risk trends.
- Identify new and emerging credit risk trends while providing recommendations to modify policies and or practices
- Perform regular monitoring and reporting on originations, portfolio, and delinquent accounts
- Develop dashboards and reports to highlight key portfolio metrics and trends.
- Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis to evaluate the potential impact of adverse economic conditions on the portfolio
- Monitor and report on any Risk Appetite measures
- Design key risk indicators (KRIs) and metrics for proactive monitoring of portfolio health.
- Ensure that credit risk practices align with industry standards and regulatory requirements, including B-20, Basel III, IFRS 9, or equivalent frameworks.
- Prepare detailed risk reports and documentation to support audits and regulatory submissions.
- Leverage tools like Alteryx, Tableau,
and Power BI to analyze complex datasets and present findings to senior management.
- Oversee data integrity processes to ensure the accuracy and consistency of credit risk datasets.
- Identify and address data gaps or inconsistencies that could impact analytical outputs.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including lending, finance, and compliance, to provide credit risk insights.
- Collaborate with product teams to embed risk considerations into the design of new financial products.
Qualifications & Experience:
Degrees, Diplomas & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.
Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:
- Approximately 5 years of experience in retail credit risk analysis within the financial industry.
- Strong understanding of credit risk principles, portfolio management, and financial modeling.
- Proficiency in analytical tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, and Power BI; experience with SQL, Python, or R is a plus.
- Proven experience in data visualization, dashboard creation, and reporting.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex findings clearly.
