POSITION PURPOSE
This position is responsible for leading the planning, development, establishment, and implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Facilities Information Management (FIM) strategies, standards, processes and technologies for the Branch; including supporting the building of BIM capability in-house and defining the Region’s use of BIM in Asset Management and Facilities Management.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with management and various internal partners to develop FIM and BIM vision, success criteria, requirements, and goals for the Region, ensuring strategic alignment with Corporate and Departmental plans.
- Oversees the development, updates,
and maintenance of master drawings (including Architecture and Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Civil) for Regional facilities.
- Oversees the BIM design, implementation and utilization of applications, tools, technologies, concepts, and methodologies for the Branch.
- Develops and implements BIM Execution Plans, establishes standards and protocols, ensuring BIM processes are aligned with corporate objectives and direction.
- Oversees and coordinates BIM modelling, clash detection and coordination processes for various projects by facilitating collaboration between key partners, including vendors and contractors.
- Works with various project teams to create, manage and maintain BIM models and documentation.
- Provides education sessions to communicate the importance and benefits of BIM throughout the organization, where required.
- Serves as the primary owner and expert for BIM and FIM software applications, developing and delivering training for end-users and providing subject matter expertise and technical support and guidance to project teams to ensure the effective use of software and tools.
- Leads team to ensure all procedures, guidelines and templates are up-to-date and compliant with industry standards.
- Oversees the day-to-day FIM operations, including Integrated Workplace Management (IWMS) program and technical support, training, research and customer service.
- Develops, recommends, and implements process improvements to FIM/BIM services and assists with other continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with other key partners.
- Develops and manages the program-related budget plans including forecasting, allocating resources and monitoring expenditures.
- Leads the research, analysis, and evaluation of new FIM/BIM tools and technologies, pertinent issues, and trends for management to make informed program and policy decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Successful completion of a University degree in Architecture,
Engineering, or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five (5) years experience in BIM management and implementation, including implementing BIM workflows and managing clash detection processes and minimum two (2) years of direct supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in BIM software tools such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D or similar 3D authoring program.
- Demonstrated knowledge of architecture, engineering, and construction principles, applicable legislation and industry standards and current practices.
- Strong data management and analysis skills, with proficiency in data extraction, integration,
and analysis to derive insights and optimize project outcomes.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Standards, Acts and Regulations.
- Demonstrated ability in the Region's leadership and core competencies.
