■ MANAGER, CORPORATE SERVICES

CONTRIBUTING TO THE CMPA

The Corporate Services team manages the Association’s physical building and office assets and provides procurement, supply chain management, leasing, contract management, archiving, meeting room management, space planning and accommodations, ergonomics, and information intake support. The department is also responsible for enabling risk management through fire and life safety, insurance, physical security and supporting business continuity.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Manager, Corporate Services provides leadership and oversight to ensure the effective operation and maintenance of the Association’s procurement,



contract management, facilities, information intake support, along with Dow’s Lake Court Property Management Oversight, food services, parking services, fitness centre, and Conference Centre functions. The Manager, Corporate Services reports to the Executive Director, Strategy & Operations.

The Manager is responsible for the Dow’s Lake Court (DLC) building operations as the DLC, Director of Operations.

The incumbent also participates in and/or leads various departmental and corporate initiatives as required.

POSITION ACTIVITIES

Dow’s Lake Court, Director of Operations• Oversees the contracted property management service to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the DLC complex

- Oversees the annual budget of the operating expenses, life cycle management, preventative maintenance
- Oversees the implementation of the long-term, mid-term, and short-term plans, including the 10-year capital forecast
- Provides leadership and support to the DLC Facilities Manager

Strategic, Operational & Financial Planning





- Develops the operational plan and budget with approval through the corporate governance process and ensures the departmental plan, budget, and people resources and operating activities are conducted in accordance with CMPA policies and procedures
- Contributes to the corporate risk assessment process and identifies and assesses risks to achieving the operational plan and budget. Develops and implements plans to mitigate risks as appropriate.
- Supports corporate reporting requirements

People Leadership

- Effectively manages the work of the team (i.e. ensuring the team’s work aligns with the vision and values, removing obstacles that interfere with their ability to achieve their goals, defining the team’s objectives)
- Leads and provides guidance to the team, (i.e. assisting employees with their career development including conducting the annual performance appraisal process,



coaching to advance individual’s skills, motivating employees to do their best work, promoting cross-department/cross-business capability collaboration, and creating an environment that values open communication, trust, and experimentation)
- Creates a culture of accountability and empowerment. Encourages continuous learning and development.
- Promotes a work environment that fosters teamwork, collaboration, respect and inclusion within the department and throughout the Association.

Other Related Duties

- Leads the review of the commercial general liability, commercial property, and garage insurance coverage for DLC Inc. and CMPA
- Maintains awareness with respect to various industries (e.g. procurement, contract management, facilities, etc.)
- Coordinates and monitors departmental records and information management processes (e.g.,



records retention and disposition, audit of paper and electronic collections, quality control of scanned images, Archives transfers, etc.) in conjunction with RIM Departmental Assistant and Senior Records Management Coordinator
- Acts as a Lead on various corporate initiatives as required
- Represents Corporate Services at various cross-departmental meetings, committees, and/or project teams
- Participates as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and attends the Leadership Forum

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- Minimum 4-year Bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e., Business Administration, Supply Chain and Facility Management, etc.)
- Minimum of 8 to 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years of experience in a people leadership role
- Understanding of procurement, contract, and facilities management is an asset





- Facility management courses (International Facility Management Association) or equivalent an asset
- Certified Facility Manager (International Facility Management Association) or equivalent would be an asset
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety and WHMIS legislation; Health & Safety Certification and WHMIS training is required
- Sound understanding of financial management and budgeting
- Project management/coordination experience required
- AutoCAD (automated drafting) or equivalent would be an asset
- Courses on ergonomics in the workplace, the trends, and how to do an ergonomic assessment would be an asset
- Demonstrated experience in development and managing budget worksheets and operational plans

- Experience working with senior management, staff, and a variety of stakeholders

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Ability to manage performance, lead,

- Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to resolve conflict and to provide advice, guidance, and coaching to employees
- Effective negotiation skills
- Abilty to apply innovative approaches to decision-making and problem-solving with a high attention to quality, detail, and accuracy
- Ability to establish and implement standards, policies, procedures, and reporting tools/techniques to meet business objectives
- Sound understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications (Workday preferred) and MS Office products
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions

POSTING DETAILS

- Job type: Regular full-time opportunity
- Salary range:



$115,400 to $154,400 annually – role classified as level 10
- Location: Hybrid – Primary Remote Job. You can work from a home-based office the majority of time, with regular on-site presence at the CMPA office (up to 1-2 days per week). If you prefer to work in an office setting as your primary workspace, you can choose to work out of the CMPA’s office located in Ottawa, Ontario near the beautiful Dow’s Lake.
