Our client is looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for a 6-month contract. The role will require working in office, in Calgary, 5 days a week.
The CFO will drive the financial planning, and management of the organization, ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the company's financial strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.
- Lead the financial planning process, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses.
- Provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making by the executive team and board.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Oversee internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and maintain financial integrity.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to optimize financial resources.
- Develop and implement effective treasury strategies to support operational needs.
- Supervise and mentor finance teams, including accounting, treasury, and financial planning.
- Foster a high-performance culture, encouraging collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team to contribute to overall strategic planning and decision-making.
- Provide financial insights to drive business growth, acquisitions, and investment decisions.
- Communicate financial performance and strategic initiatives effectively to stakeholders.
- Lead financial due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, or strategic partnerships.
- Play a central role in negotiating financial aspects of transactions.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting,
or a related field; CPA designation required; MBA preferred,
- Proven experience as a CFO or senior financial leader in a publicly traded company or similar environment, preferably in the building materials, construction or manufacturing sectors.
- In-depth understanding of public company reporting requirements, financial regulations, reporting standards (IFRS, SOX compliance), and corporate governance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal abilities, capable of building and inspiring high-performing teams.
- Effective communication skills for conveying financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success in driving financial strategies that contribute to organizational growth.
- Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and advanced modelling tools.
