Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a Canadian senior crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company. We are focused on long-term growth through an aggressive exploration, development, production and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
We are currently looking for a SCADA Analyst to join our team in the Calgary office.
The SCADA Analyst will be a member of the SCADA team within Tourmaline’s Operational Technology (OT) group.
Reporting to the Manager of Operational Technology, the SCADA Analyst will work directly with other members of the SCADA team, and closely with members of the wider OT team.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Maintenance:
Ensure the functionality and availability of the SCADA systems by creating, testing, and implementing standards, policies, and procedures for maintenance and upkeep of the systems.
- Technical Guidance: Provide timely and accurate technical advice on system design, best practices, and configurations to continually improve Tourmaline’s SCADA and to prepare for emerging technologies, changing regulatory requirements, and the continually evolving security environment.
- Project Involvement: As a technical resource, this analyst will participate in projects, upgrades, migrations, acquisition integration, and divestitures for SCADA systems and assets. They will conduct testing and collaborate with all SCADA stakeholders and support teams such as other members of the SCADA task force, OT, production operations, engineering, FDC/measurement, and external SCADA providers/vendors. In cooperation with other team members, this analyst will participate in the commissioning, changing, and decommissioning of assets such as wells, pads, facilities and more.
- Operational Engagement:
Handle daily operational changes in the system while communicating effectively with production operations and maintenance teams.
- Application Support: Maintain and troubleshoot SCADA applications in conjunction with OT infrastructure and security personnel.
- Participation in after-hours SCADA support on-call rotation.
- Occasional travel to field sites for commissioning and training of operational staff on new/changed systems.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Degree or diploma program in engineering or instrumentation engineering/technology (or alternative with experience) from an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience with SCADA systems support, maintenance and project delivery. Direct experience supporting operational staff or end-users. Field experience beneficial.
- Technical Competence:
- Technical Expertise with enterprise-level SCADA platform(s).
- Technical expertise with RTUs such as Emerson ROC/Floboss, SCADAPack, Bristol and more.
- Understanding and experience with various SCADA and control protocols, languages, polling engines, and data conversion/transformation.
- Experience with edge-computing and MQTT beneficial.
- Experience with programming languages, scripting, and software development is preferred.
- Awareness and experience with electronic flow measurement regulations, best practices, and production reporting data workflows.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication abilities, excellent customer service orientation, and the capability to work effectively within a team environment. Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
