The Planning Analyst (12-month Contract) is responsible for achieving sales and profit objectives for a specific merchandise category or categories, under the direction of the Purchasing Manager. This responsibility includes the development and successful implementation of buying strategies, merchandise programs and marketing plans.

Responsibilities

- Partners with Purchasing Manager to understand all financial aspects of the business including budgeting and forecasting.
- Provide feedback and recommendations for various processes and applications to improve efficiencies in everyday tasks and assigned projects.
- Help manage vendor and brand selection, develop strong vendor relationships with knowledge of offerings and capabilities for special requests, monitor industry trends, evaluate competition.
- Work closely with Purchasing Manager and web/marketing teams to manage the advertising process.




- Collaborate in setting merchandising direction for different retail formats in efforts to maximize sales productivity while maintaining execution excellence.
- Develop & execute category, assortment, marketing and merchandising strategies that support the overarching category goals, and always ensuring that plan is supported with a customer[1]centric focus, data & analytics.
- Monitors category sales weekly and propose actions to the leadership team as necessary (markdowns, promotional events, delivery follow-up, etc).
- Updates at period end the financial scorecard with actual sales, gross profit, and receipt data. Has working knowledge of Open to Buy.
- Create adhoc reports and provide analysis upon request from WA management group.
- Provide inventory analytics with information to maximize sales and profit.
- Analyze all in-season sell-through results. Evaluate performance and key programs to extract learning.




- Assist in item creation, replenishment, purchase order creation and other administrative tasks as required .
- Monitor stock levels and initiate recommendations for repeat orders and consolidations
- Develops and executes category assortment as determined by established sales.
- Determine optimal store allocation and replenishment based on the Category strategy, merchandising plan, store size and sales performance.
- Accountable for achieving relevant category metrics for assigned category, including proactive management to ensure forecasts, sales, grow profit and inventory targets are met or exceeded.
- Monitors category sales weekly and propose actions to the Senior Buyer as necessary (markdowns, promotional events, delivery follow-up, etc).




- Provide or coordinate with vendors product knowledge to store associates through various forms of communication, including zoom meetings.
- Regular in store visits, and respond promptly to store visit notes.
- Liaises with stores to ensure appropriate assortment and timing.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Three to five years of related experience
- MS Office
- Specialized software related to retail an asset
- Strong written and oral communication skills
