The Staples technology team is seeking a talented and energetic Team Lead to join our team. We want an individual who will challenge the norm, strive to create the best experience and someone who always puts the customer first. You will have a passion for writing clean, simple code and a willingness to share learnings within your development team.
This is a hands-on Team Lead role where you will develop and lead teams. You will participate in refining and implementing solutions that improve Staples Canada’s E-Commerce platforms, collaborating with Product Managers, User Experience designers, Architects, and Quality Assurance engineers to design and build high-quality solutions.
Day-to-day activities will include writing code and unit tests to ensure you’re meeting the requirements. A successful candidate will have E-Commerce related software development experience (SDLC, technology), and a passion to learn new technologies. You will have the ability to work within a fast-moving, startup-like environment and deliver products and services that have a broad business impact.
Specifically, You Will:
- Cultivate a deep understanding of the portfolio of applications we utilize, along with their respective strengths and weaknesses, to assist in providing solutions to existing and future challenges.
- Assist in the design of software components to enhance our portfolio.
- Work with the team to improve our software, our environment, and our process using your knowledge of industry trends and tools.
- Provide guidance and direction to the development teams to remove obstacles and keep initiatives on target.
- Translate project goals and product roadmaps into organized technical tasks.
Some of what you need:
- Degree in Computer Science or relevant work experience.
- Experience managing multiple large digital projects focused on business transformation, uncertain business requirements, and new technology.
- High proficiency in Test Driven Development, Unit Testing, and Integration Testing.
- 2+ years of experience as a hands-on Team/Technical Lead with prior experience as a full stack developer.
- 5+ years of experience with UI development technologies, mainly React, TypeScript, Next JS, HTML5, Tailwind CSS, and Bootstrap.
- 5+ years of experience building web and Windows applications using back-end frameworks, either NodeJS or C#.
- 5+ years of experience building Microservices (ideally Docker), Web Services, and .Net-based Web Services for integration with third-party applications.
- Experience with DB management systems like MongoDB, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL Server.
- Experience using source control systems such as GitHub and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience using logging and monitoring tools, ideally DataDog and Splunk.
- Experience with cloud environments, ideally MS Azure.
- Experience working with Shopify, Contentful, and search engine frameworks.
