We are actively seeking a Reservoir Engineer-In-Training to join our Lloydminster Thermal Reservoir team in our Calgary office.



Reporting to the Manager, Reservoir - Lloydminster Thermal, the successful candidate will work as part of a technical, multidisciplinary team and will play a key role in the subsurface reservoir engineering, well planning and well forecasting, and operating strategies for the company’s Saskatchewan thermal heavy oil assets.

Essential Functions:

- Support development of Strathcona’s in-situ thermal heavy oil assets.

- Support activities evaluating field development strategies and reservoir management plans, and propose strategies and opportunities to sustain and improve reservoir performance.

- Support well start-up, ramp down, and late-life well strategies.

- Utilize analogues, analytical, and simulation techniques to generate medium and long-term production forecasts for wells, pads, and assets.

- Support any regulatory applications or filings as needed.

- Communicate effectively with key stakeholders and establish relationships with Production, Operations, Geosciences and Development teams.

Skills and Qualifications:





- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or a related field.

- Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Member-In-Training with APEGA.

- Previous industry related experience directly involved with engineering aspects of thermal projects (co-op, internship, field operations, etc.) is an asset.

- Goal-oriented, with the ability to meet deadlines in a collaborative environment.

- Strong passion and initiative to take ownership of projects from start to finish.

- Effective communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

- Must be legally authorized to work full-time in Canada without restrictions.
