Community Engagement Manager

Position Overview
This is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours per week. As a key member of the Philanthropy and Marketing team, the Community Engagement Manager plays a vital role in managing donor and volunteer relationships for the Saskatoon Family YMCA. Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, Marketing & Communications,
this position oversees the entire giving cycle—from recruitment to stewardship—and helps execute fundraising initiatives. The role also involves database management, corporate sponsorship recognition tracking, and effective communication with donors and volunteers to further the YMCA’s mission.
Responsibilities
Data Management:
- Manage the Donor & Volunteer thank-you matrix and tracking system to boost retention.
- Update the database, including gift entry, conversation tracking, and monthly reporting for all donors and volunteers.
- Record donor/sponsor transactions, track pledges, issue invoices, and provide receipts.
Donor & Volunteer Engagement:
- Assist with Donor & Volunteer Stewardship and Recognition activities.
- Design and execute Volunteer & Community Engagement Activities.
- Liaise with YMCA departments to determine volunteer needs for programs and events.
- Recruit and schedule volunteers for programs and special events.
- Maintain up-to-date volunteer agreement forms and records.
- Identify volunteers who could support fundraising efforts or become donors.
Communications:
- Engage donors and volunteers in meaningful conversations about their impact on the YMCA’s mission.
- Create monthly Volunteer Stories and periodic Donor Stories for the newsletter.
- Conduct regular surveys of volunteers and donors.
- Provide annual volunteer and donor information for the annual report.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Participate in organizational meetings and contribute to discussions.
- Support grant applications and collaborate on special projects as needed.
- Assist with Major Gift Announcements.
- Ensure adherence to brand guidelines for corporate donors,
sponsors, and grant funders.
- Track Major Donor and Sponsor Recognition (e.g., website, social media, event invites).
- Research grant opportunities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (strong asset).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a charitable organization.
- Knowledge of donor and email management software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or similar).
- Experience managing volunteers; Volunteer engagement training is an asset.
- Ability to incorporate and follow the organization’s strategic direction.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills for effective collaboration.
- Highly organized team player with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Quick learner with a strong work ethic.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Current Criminal Record Check.
