Harbinger Network has been Retained by Chandos Construction, a 100% employee-owned, first and largest B Corp Certified commercial builder in North America, to find a Chief Estimator to join their Ottawa team.

About the Opportunity
The successful Chief Estimator will be based out of Chandos’ Ottawa office. This leadership role offers a significant opportunity to influence the growth and direction of the branch. This position offers exclusive access to the national group of Chief Estimators within the Chandos Group, providing opportunities for the exchange of ideas. The Chief Estimator is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing all estimating functions. They also provide management, support and assistance to the estimating team.
This individual’s accuracy and leadership is critical to the profitability and success of the business and its ability to win bids and maintain a competitive edge in the marketplace. The Chief Estimator is responsible for the overall performance, leadership, mentorship and effectiveness of the estimating team.
About You
The successful individual will have the following educational qualifications and experience:
1. 10+ years of experience in construction estimating; commercial or industrial construction is preferred.
2. 10+ years of experience with larger complex project estimates.
3. Degree or technical diploma in Engineering or Construction Technology.
4. Designated Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) and/or Construction Estimator Certified (CEC) is ideal.
5. Strong knowledge of estimation methods and techniques.
6. Strong knowledge of construction management budgeting, design-build, and lump-sum tenders.
7.
Good negotiation and interpersonal skills – able to work with all personality types.
8. Good client service and public interaction skills.
9. Customer-focused; respond promptly to customer needs.
10. Effective verbal, writing and interpersonal communication skills.
