The Opportunity
Do you have experience with expatriate payroll,
taxation management, and workforce mobility? We are #hiring a Payroll, Taxation, and Mobility Analyst for our Calgary head office. If you have excellent interpersonal skills and great attention to detail, we want to hear from you!
You will focus on managing expatriate payroll and tax compliance while ensuring accurate reporting and communication with stakeholders. Additionally, you will support expatriates through their relocation process, ensuring compliance, and managing related financials. Reporting to the Manager, Global Total Rewards, you will join a team that values its people and provides work with purpose.
What you will do
- Process monthly expatriate payroll and oversee international shadow payrolls
- Collaborate with Canadian payroll to file annual income tax returns for Canadian expatriates and complete reporting for tax purposes
- Assist with all tax related aspects of expatriate assignments, including hypothetical tax calculations and changes impacting pay; track trailing tax obligations
- Manage taxation reporting for long term incentive plans and review shadow payrolls from a tax perspective
- Conduct reconciliations of expatriate costs
- Liaise with tax providers for T4 preparation, filing, and compliance, while saying updated on legislative changes
- Ensure vendors deliver accurate reporting and collaborate with tax service providers for effective communication with expatriates
- Advise clients on our relocation policy, including assignment terms, immigration, and taxation implications
- Research and assist in creating international policies, letters of assignment, and processes for assignment extensions and repatriations
- Maintain a database of expatriate-related documents and provide updates to senior management and global HR services; track assignment statuses
- Manage international assignments and relocations, including engaging service providers for relocation,
immigration, and cultural training
- Coordinate with relocation and immigration providers to ensure compliance with policies and processes, monitor service quality, and address issues
- Reconcile expatriate costs, maintain accounting records, and provide input for annual HR and expatriate budgets
What you will bring
- 8 years of experience with taxation; payroll experience is an asset
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting is strongly preferred
- Advanced excel skills
- Proven track record in managing global mobility programs and demonstrated experience advising clients on relocation policies, assignment terms, and immigration matters
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills
