ABOUT THE ROLE:
As the Senior Platform Engineer for the Platform Engineering team you will be responsible for migrating Points Business Unit products to the cloud (AWS) ensuring the platform not only meets but exceeds the security and compliance standards expected in the industry, driving innovation by exploring and implementing cutting-edge technological solutions
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Reporting to the Team Lead, Platform Engineering you will :
- Work closely with the Team Lead and lead key epics within the team- Mentor, coach other platform engineers in the team- Propose innovations, solutions within the team, to external stakeholders and lead these solutions to production - Be part of the team that designs, builds & migrates our next-generation infrastructure based on Kubernetes (on-prem) to the Cloud- Migrate microservices and data services to this new infrastructure in the Cloud- Build CI/CD infrastructure & tooling, provide pipeline (we use GitLab) support to internal teams,
ensure security & software compliance at all levels and improve observability of the system through monitoring and alerting- Manage & build tooling in Python, GoLang etc - Constantly evaluate & look for ways to improve our current infrastructure- Support and work alongside Engineering and the Operations teams- Advocate for Platform Engineering within the organization - this includes people, process and technology
YOU ARE SOMEONE WITH:
- Strong experienced with IaC automation - (Pulumi, Terraform etc), in the Cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP) - Experience with configuration management - Ansible, Puppet etc.- Strong proficiency in Docker and Kubernetes- Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting issues within the Linux operating system- Comfortable coding in one of: Python or Golang- Networking concepts: firewalls, NAT, subnetting, ports, VPC, VPNs- Security-first mindset: implement industry best practices for system hardening, configuration management,
and automation solutions for development, testing and deployment to production environments - Comfortable with Git or other source code management systems- Familiar with the CI/CD (Gitlab nice to have)- Good understanding of Platform engineering and DevSecOps practices - Strong communication and problem-solving skills
