Start Date: December 2024
Salary: $53,654 – 67,068/year

What qualifications are we looking for?





At YMCA Calgary we strive to ensure our employees are a fit based on their strengths, interests, and future goals. The successful candidate will have the following:

· Post-secondary diploma/degree in Early Childhood, Education, or equivalent
· Alberta Early Childhood Certification or ability to attain (Level 2 or 3)
· Minimum of 3 years working in a supervisory capacity within an organization providing services for children. Experience working in licensed child care with strong knowledge of applicable social care regulatory requirements is beneficial
· Experience managing an effective staff and volunteer team to collaboratively achieve desired outcomes
· Experience coordinating support programs and services for children is an asset
· Exemplary skills in the planning,



delivery and assessment of developmentally appropriate play-based programs for children
· Excellent oral and written communication capabilities, including strong conflict resolution skills. An intermediate level of computer competency is required
· Budget development and management
· Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.
· Evidence of a cleared Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
· Three professional references required

What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?

This position is full-time and will work 40 hours per week between the hours of 7am - 6pm, Monday through Friday.



Flexibility of the successful applicant’s personal schedule is required to ensure area needs are met from both an operational, management and strategic perspective. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.

The Centre Manager – Early Years will be based out of the Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge working within a traditional office setting. They will be required to travel regularly to other YMCA facilities where they supervise staff and are directly responsible for Early Years programs. There will also be occasional travel to other locations in the city for YMCA meetings, training, and community engagement work.

Position responsibilities specific to the Early Years Portfolio:
· Advance strategic partnerships both internal and external to the YMCA




· Provide effective leadership ensuring an effective staff and volunteer team is in place to meet area needs. This includes utilizing a cooperative team approach and providing intentional, developmental leadership for assigned direct reports
· Champion program excellence throughout YMCA Calgary through coaching and training. Provide human resource, curriculum development and operational support of early years programs and areas
· Demonstrate safe practices at all times and act promptly on all health and safety risks and concerns. Capably manage emergency situations both in the moment and through effective follow up
· This position will hold a regular Duty Manager shift within their home branch, proactively supporting all areas of operation. They will be responsible for coordinating emergency response within the branch,



including contacting emergency services and administering first aid and CPR when required.
· Provide oversight and leadership for the association’s Child Development Specialist team
· Attend, participate in and, when required, facilitate YMCA team meetings. This may also include YMCA Calgary representation within the broader community
· Complete administrative duties as required to meet strategic, reporting, accounting, human resource and operational needs
· Establish and maintain effective communication strategies with both internal and external YMCA Calgary stakeholders
· Ensure all Early Years areas operate in accordance with regulatory agencies (including Provincial Child Care Licensing, Fire Department, Health Services) and to meet YMCA standards
· Achieve excellence in developmentally appropriate program delivery,



including implementation of the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum within childcare centres
· Maintain personal certifications and trainings. Monitor certifications and trainings of staff and volunteers to ensure position requirements are met
· Provide direct leadership and oversight to the Staff and Volunteer aspect of the Annual Campaign
