AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Reporting to the Manager, Equity Office, provides program and administrative support to Corporate Projects, Policy and Liaison team assisting in day-to-day duties. Supports the effective delivery of services and responds to general inquiries received by the Division.
This role will support the Equity Office team in preparing reports, presentations, planning and programming of activities that advance the programs and projects of the Office and supports the coordination and tracking of Equity Office request.
• Respond to customer inquiries/concerns and provide information regarding programs and services, and escalates to appropriate City staff as required
• Support the Equity Office work by identifying, researching, and developing resources and processes to enhance current and upcoming EDI efforts across the City of Brampton
• Assist and collaborate on sectional programs and special projects as required
• Provide administrative support including physical and electronic filing, preparing memos and formatting reports
• Maintain records, documentation, and prepare reports as required
• Process online forms and provide support on sectional workflow procedures
• Assist with data entry and tracking, and maintain data integrity
• Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
• Understand and adhere to Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines,
Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards
• Attend meetings/training as required
• Work well within diverse groups in support of operational goals and objectives.
• Demonstrate corporate values at all times.
• Participate as a member of cross-functional team.
• Provide support/backup as necessary.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
• Working towards a degree or diploma in Human Rights, Equity Studies. Public Policy or Administration, Law or equivalent or a similar discipline, or have a related experience or interest.
• Research and planning experience developed through coursework, volunteer or work positions.
• Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and/or lived experiences of equity, diversity, inclusion, intersecting oppressions, and other social justice issues and principles
• Effective customer service skills and communication skills
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
