Current events include the Rogers Charity Classic, the 2025 ISU World Cup Speed Skating, 2025 ISU World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships and Chinook Blast Winter Festival. Past events that Launchpoint has been involved in include the 2024 ISU World Speed Skating Championships, 2019 Grey Cup Festival and 107th Grey Cup Game, the 2020 GLOW Festival, and the 2020, 2021 and 2022 ISU World Cup Speed Skating (among others).

ROGERS CHARITY CLASSIC
The Rogers Charity Classic will host some of the greatest names in golf at Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club, August 11 - 17, 2025. The field, which will consist of 78 stars on the PGA TOUR Champions, will compete for $2.5 million US in a three-round, 54-hole stroke-play tournament. The only PGA TOUR Champions stop in Canada will showcase Calgary to the world through its broadcast on the Golf Channel.



Led by a philanthropic Patron Group including Tournament Chairman –Jim Riddell, Allan Markin, Keith MacPhail, Guy Turcotte, Gary Peddle, Michael Culbert, Brad Shaw and PGA Tour Professional – Stephen Ames, along with title sponsor, Rogers Communications, the Rogers Charity Classic won the PGA TOUR Champions’ prestigious President’s Award in 2014, 2015 and 2017. The tournament has raised more than $137 million in its twelve years, with a PGA TOUR Champions record setting donation of over $25 million raised in 2024 that was distributed amongst 293 youth-based charities in Alberta.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Tournament Assistant will work alongside the Tournament Manager on various aspects of the tournament. Primary areas of concentration will include volunteer management,



customer service and playing a key support role in the management of the Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink program. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students who are interested in pursuing a career in sports or event management and want to get a glimpse into varying departments and tasks. Interns will be asked to take ownership of key projects and will gain strong professional experience.

THE JOB SPECIFICS
Volunteers

- Maintain the online volunteer database of 1,000+ volunteers.
- Answer volunteer questions via phone and email.
- Coordinate and attend meetings with Volunteer Chairs in preparation for the event.
- Prepare and distribute monthly volunteer newsletters.
- Prepare and distribute the monthly volunteer report.
- Play a key role in executing volunteer packing day, orientation day, and uniform distribution.




- Assist in securing donations from local businesses for volunteer raffles.
- Assist in securing volunteer meal donations.
- Build out a volunteer communication plan.

Player Administration

- Assist PGA TOUR Champions players, their families, and caddies by providing information about booking accommodations in Calgary.
- Develop tournament fact sheets and handbooks for players and their caddies.
- Work with transportation volunteer chairs to organize player airport pick-ups.

Community Investment

- Build and foster relationships with 290+ participating Birdies for Kids charities to support them with their fundraising goals.
- Assist with the execution of the 2025 Rogers Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink program.
- Process incoming donations, pull donation tax receipts, create acknowledgement letters, create reports and track invoices.




- Assist in building and maintaining the donation database.
- Data entry of manual donation forms and offline donations.
- Assist the Tournament Manager with creating and distributing charity materials including monthly newsletters, social media content and website content.
- Assist with the execution of the on-site charitable activation.

Marketing/Social Media/Ticketing

- Play a key role in the creative and scheduling of tournament social media posts.
- Create a Tournament Week content creation plan.
- Support the Senior Coordinator, Marketing & Events with the social media influencer campaign.
- Assist in the operation of the group ticket sales program.

Administration

- Manage the on-site Tournament Office ensuring top levels of customer service.
- Track and coordinate all travel arrangements for internal staff and visiting colleagues.




- Answer general tournament inquiries by phone and manage the [email protected] email address.

REQUIREMENTS

- A current post-secondary student or a degree in Business, Sport Management or a related field
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, especially with Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
- Extremely strong communication skills – oral and written
- Determination to support the team and go above and beyond what is expected
- High attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task competing priorities while remaining flexible and calm under pressure
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and long hours as required
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Golf experience/ knowledge is not required but considered an asset

SALARY: $15.50/ hour + overtime (this works out to approximately $12,000 + $1,000 performance bonus)




HOURS:
Term: Tuesday, May 6th – Friday, August 29th, 2025
Hours during May – June -expected to be 40 hours / week
From July 7th – August 3rd – expected to be 40 - 50 hours / week
Week of August 4th – expected to be 60+ hours
Week of August 11th (Tournament Week) – expected to be 80+ hours
From August 18th – August 29th – expected to be 30 hours / week
