Overall Responsibilities

The Senior Financial Analyst is a leader in the finance group working closely with sales, marketing, and demand planning to drive operational excellence and to support in strategic initiatives. The position is responsible for managing the company’s trade promotion spending process, including the implementation of a new trade promotion software. The position is also responsible for reviewing category and customer profitability, advising on investment decisions as it relates to promotional spend and communicating results to the executive team.

Budgeting & Forecasting – Own the budgeting and forecasting process for the Canada business unit (with a focus on sales, trade and marketing investments) with inputs from functional leaders.



Understand risks and opportunities, challenges assumptions and provide meaningful options to work through challenges

Report Meaningful Actionable Information – Communicate timely and accurate financial results including causes for variances against forecast/budget/prior year and forward-looking implications; Provide actionable information that will impact the company’s financial results; Drive overall performance and accountability for results; Support growth & strategy updates to SLT through highlighting key trends and performance of strategic initiatives





Support the Month End Close Process – Prepare and review all supporting documents as required for finalizing sales and trade spend for the month; Continuously seek opportunities to streamline the month end close process and shorten number of days required to close

Act Like an Owner – A strategic business partner providing meaningful financial information, professional judgement and insights for the Company’s business planning process; Be the financial lead in identifying and driving improved margins; Identify potential risks and upsides to financial targets based on an assessment of forecasted sales and trade; Monitor and identify new business opportunities with the Customer to prepare and deliver financially sound proposals; Analyzes key customer/product profitability

Internal Controls and External Audit – Lead improvements to the Company’s internal control processes as it relates to trade management to support the successful completion of the Company’s year-end audit





Support IT Improvement Initiatives – Oversee effective functioning of the ERP and information reporting processes/systems; Work with our IT service provider to make improvements and modifications to existing capabilities

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements

- CPA designation/successfully passed the CFE or in the process of pursing CPA designation.
- 3-5 years in a financial role
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian retail industry as it relates to trade promotion spending
- Experience with managing the ROI for trade promotion spending
- Experience with trade promotion optimization software preferred
- Exceptional analytic and financial analysis skills, ability to dig into detail without losing sight of the big picture
- Strong business acumen and a proven track record for delivering results




- Excellent time management skills
- Exceptional skills in Microsoft Office applications – an Excel expert
- Strong communication, conflict resolution and analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task with multiple deadlines and prioritize crucial deliverables
