Do you have a knack for communication and public relations? We are looking for a dynamic Community Engagement Advisor to join our dedicated Economic Opportunities and Investment team and provide essential information to the residents of Yellowknife. As the Community Engagement Advisor, you will be driving impactful engagement initiatives and fostering strong relationships with residents, community groups and stakeholders.
Reporting to the Manager, Economic Opportunities and Investment the incumbent is responsible for interfacing with the public through various means of communication and engagement to promote awareness, understanding and involvement in the City's planning and decision-making processes; address issues, improve relations and identify opportunities for improving engagement.
Through regular direction from the Director and Manager, the incumbent assists with the development and implementation of community outreach and communication policies, strategies, and campaigns to ensure the engagement objectives of the City are met.
The position calls for a University or College degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field. A minimum of 3 years related experience in community engagement within a government or corporate role is required. The incumbent must have strong public speaking skills with the ability to relate effectively and to connect with government, community members, and special interest groups. The incumbent must demonstrate advanced skills in MS Office Suite along with the ability to write creative and clear messaging in order to support the City's business objective.
The City of Yellowknife offers a starting salary of $96,642 as well as a comprehensive benefits package including a defined benefit pension plan, and monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totaling $450.
