This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd - Women's Services - Community Support Services

Good Shepherd Women's Services, through its various programs, is seeing increasing numbers of children who have experienced trauma, witnessed or experienced abuse and are living in poverty.

The Child and Youth Facilitator will work in collaboration with the Learning Effective Anti-Violence for Families ("LEAF")



Facilitator to provide group programming including but not limited to: LEAF and Mothers in Mind ("MIM"). Our programs often work closely with community stakeholders, including schools, other Violence Against Women ("VAW") agencies, child welfare and family court systems to develop unique programming for children and women in the VAW programs.

How You Will Make an Impact

The child and youth worker will engage children to provide individualized counselling and therapeutic interventions to a diverse range of emotional and physical responses to trauma. In addition, the child and youth worker will liaise and coordinate with external agencies to deliver joint programming, complete program assessments, intakes and safety planning, facilitation of groups for various age ranges, as well as participate, plan, and host in-service and community-based public education and awareness events.





In addition, the Child and Youth Facilitator is responsible for the collection of statistical information for both internal and external reporting requirements, clear and concise documentation, and participation in team meetings and case consultation.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

- One year of group facilitation experience and a completed post-secondary education in child and youth or social services related program
- CPR/First Aid is required
- ASK suicide prevention is an asset
- A valid Ontario driver's license (G) and ability to drive Good Shepherd vehicles is required
- The successful candidate will have a flexible schedule
- Ability to speak French and/or other languages considered an asset
