Job Description:
The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) is recruiting a Division Chief and Full-Time Staff Plastic Surgeon, Division of Pediatric Plastic Surgery in the Department of Surgery.
The Division Chief at CHEO oversees the safety and quality of care provided and the medical staff within the division. As such, the Division Chief has responsibilities for medical staff leadership, operational resource oversite, in collaboration with their administrative dyad, and the Division’s academic activity. CHEO invites applications from candidates who have strong operational and academic leadership skills and a proven record of achievement in comprehensive patient care,
clinical program development, education, research, and/or quality assurance.
The successful candidate will join the existing compliment of three full-time Pediatric Plastic Surgeon and provide a diverse clinical-academic practice including general pediatric plastic surgery. The successful applicant will cover full-time pediatric plastic surgery call 1:4 and engage in clinical teaching and research at the University of Ottawa. The successful candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgery at the University of Ottawa and will receive an academic rank commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Applicants are required to have at least one year Fellowship training in Pediatric Plastic Surgery, should hold or be eligible to be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and be eligible for medical licensure in the Province of Ontario. Applicants should have a proven record of excellence in clinical care and teaching.
It is desired that applicants exhibit a skill set,
which will augment the service delivery of the current Division and demonstrate a commitment to clinical research. Resources include access to clinic space with well-appointed minor surgery facility, and main operating room time either at CHEO or in other community hospitals. Functionality in French is an asset but not a requirement.
