York University is seeking a collaborative and adaptable corporate/commercial real estate lawyer to join its team as Counsel , reporting to the General Counsel. The successful candidate will work across a wide array of real estate, development, and corporate/commercial matters, including drafting and advising on the interpretation of contracts. Exposure to construction law,
procurement and access to information and privacy matters would be definite assets. The Counsel will partner closely with departments across the University, providing practical advice grounded in the law. This role will suit a lawyer with the demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, pivot across practice areas, and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience with real estate, corporate/commercial and construction law matters and, while not required, experience advising clients in the public sector would be an asset.
