BURNCO has a tremendous opportunity for a Cybersecurity Analyst to based out of our corporate headquarters in Calgary, Alberta.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Threat Monitoring and Detection:



Continuously monitor network traffic, system logs, and security events to identify and mitigate potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Incident Response: Detect, analyze, and respond to security breaches and incidents swiftly and effectively.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability scans to identify potential security risks and implement appropriate measures.
- Security Protocols and Compliance: Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, protocols, and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Security Awareness: Educate and train employees on cybersecurity best practices and emerging threats.
- Technology Integration: Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure the integration of security measures in all aspects of the business.
- Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports on security incidents, vulnerabilities, and compliance status to management.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related experience.



Relevant certifications are highly desirable.
- Experience: Proven 3-5 years of experience in a cybersecurity or IT security role, with hands-on experience in incident response, threat analysis, and security risk assessments.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with security tools and technologies such as SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus software, and vulnerability management solutions.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and cyber threat vectors. Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and act decisively under pressure.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Team Player:



Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a collaborative mindset and strong interpersonal skills.

Highly Desirable

- Experience with specific technologies used at BURNCO (e.g., SAP, Salesforce)
- Understanding of Zero Trust security principles and secure-by-design approaches.
- Advanced certifications in cybersecurity or related fields.
