GFI, a Westport Fuel Systems company, designs and manufactures a comprehensive product mix of alternative fuel components for applications in the light and heavy-duty vehicle and industrial segments globally. This product mix includes Hydrogen (H2) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) components such as pressure regulators, tank valves, PRD's, PRV’s, shutoff valves and integrated systems for a wide range of applications, including Fuel Cell vehicles.

Position Purpose

Responsible for internal quality control, root cause analysis of non-conforming products and implementation of suitable corrective actions. This role is focused on usage of Quality Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FMEA) in IATF 16949 environment, working with customers,



suppliers and internally to resolve, anticipate and prevent issues in a timely manner.

Role responsibilities

- Support prototype and production builds to respond to issues as they arise
- Drive the resolution of customer, in-house and supplier non-conformities
- Compile customer PPAP packages and manage all activities until PSW sign off
- Quality planning (control plans, inspection instructions, etc.), for products / processes
- Experience with quality containment activities; experience with field campaigns is an asset
- Support Manufacturing through training in required inspection activities and facilitation of the corrective action process including root cause analysis of internal and external non-conformities
- Dimensional Layouts and receiving inspection support, as required
- Conducting Process Capability Studies for products with critical / significant characteristics, gauge repeatability and reproducibility studies
- Manage nonconforming product through generation of NMR, containment/inspection of n/c product, as required




- Manage/control new drawing releases and update all required quality documentation for relevant EO’s
- Perform regular IATF 16949 product and process verification audits to assess quality process effectiveness
- Supplier PPAP’s – Review and approval of supplier documentation in cooperation with quality inspection
- Generate quality performance reports as required.
- All other duties as assigned.

Health & Safety responsibilities

- Promote Westport’s H&S; culture following all Environmental, and H&S; procedures and understanding your obligations and responsibilities
- Report unsafe conditions, behaviors and all accidents
- Co-operate with JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) and Safety representative

Position Requirements





- Certified Quality Engineer or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent
- Min. 4 years’ experience in Tier I / II automotive industry
- Good understanding of APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, Gauge and Calibration
- Hands on experience with measurement tools, 8D technique and Minitab
- Good communicator and team player
- Knowledge of GD&T; and engineering drawing interpretations
- Experience in a machining and assembly environment considered an asset
- Active knowledge of quality standards such as IATF 16949

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:

This position performs some sedentary office work and requires the ability to move throughout the building to interact with others. This position uses a computer terminal to access, input and retrieve data. This position may occasionally require travel (< 10% of time)



both by vehicle and by air. This position will occasionally use common tools to assemble, troubleshoot and test components and may be required to lift up to 40lbs

Salary Range

This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary within our hiring range of $85,000 - $100,000. Salary is dependent on numerous factors including skills and experience.
