[WT-026] Manager, Data Engineering

Our Client is looking for a Manager of Data Engineering.
As Manager, Data Engineering, you will both lead a team of Data Engineers and work with stakeholders to identify opportunities to drive business value by leveraging data, analytics and AI. You will leverage expertise and hands-on technical skills to implement data design, management, storage, integration, cloud and best practices while using your strong business sense and ability to communicate with both business and IT to influence how the firm approaches business challenges.

Responsibilities / Skills Needed

• Ingest and transform unstructured, structured (OLTP) data from multiple systems across the firm




• Identify internal and external data to mine for client business opportunities and operational improvements
• Maintain and enhance a Data Warehouse and central data repository for the firm
• Design and build ETL pipelines
• Champion machine learning and AI related initiatives
• Create and iterate on data prototypes to test and validate new data solutions and technologies
• Turn raw data into valuable insights that the firm can use to grow and compete
• Establish policies and frameworks that improve data governance and data quality in the firm
• Lead and influence key data architectural designs and migrations

People Management:
• Lead, mentor and inspire a team of data engineers to perform at their best Work
• Foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, support amongst team members
• Work closely with the team to understand and deliver on organizational objectives while developing thorough change management strategies
• Organize incoming work and staff assignments to meet committed deadlines
• Support and collaborate with business reporting team




• Develop strong relationships with business unit stakeholders to help foster a data-driven and innovative culture

Requirements

• 3+ years' experience in leading a high-performance technical team
• 5+ years of progressive Data Engineering experience in Python, R, SQL and PowerShell scripting
• Mandatory experience with Azure Synapse and DW technologies, Microsoft Data Technologies (Azure Data Factory, PowerBI, etc.)
• Experience with Azure (app services, API management, security features)
• Experience in organizing and conditioning data and conducting big data analysis
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills: ability to clearly communicate with business and technical stakeholders
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, creativity,



and insight with the ability to address complex situations with stakeholders
• Knowledge of machine learning is a strong asset
• Knowledge and some experience in data science, predictive modelling is a strong asset

Application Experience:
• Experience with applications such as Azure DevOps, Microsoft Dynamics 365, iFirm, Workday, Power BI, and Systems Integration

Education:
• Degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics or STEM-related field. A Masters Degree and/or Ph.D is a strong asset, but not required
