About this role This is a very important role as Associate Director/Lead, Indigenous Procurement, North America reports directly to the Supply Chain Operations Director, North America.
Supply Chain is a global, centrally led organization with regional and site-specific leadership that supports Region and Site operations under the leadership and guidance of the Global SC team.




The purpose of this role is to build and actively manage regional relationships with Indigenous communities while managing the category and sourcing portfolio for these suppliers and manage a team of local procurement analysts that coordinate local contracts with First Nations and Indigenous suppliers.

Your role will consist of To coordinate with functional leadership to understand Newmont’s obligations to relevant Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA’s) and develop and execute a commercial strategy that complies with the aforementioned agreements.
To lead and manage a Local / Indigenous Procurement team that provides exceptional service to their mine customers and drives significant continuous reductions in the cost of all regional services by evolving procurement processes, improving existing supplier relationships, sourcing new regional and local First Nations and Indigenous suppliers,



managing supply agreements, and ensuring that buyers utilize the most cost effective regional, and local contracts while complying with regional and local regulations for all services.
To provide a clear understanding of the regional spend for First Nations and Indigenous suppliers to regional stakeholders and identifying opportunities to improve safety performance, quality and improve value for the spend and to identify innovative procurement solutions that provide realizable cash savings and process efficiencies for the organization.
To direct sourcing, procurement, delivery, and management of the First Nations and Indigenous suppliers category spend within the regional category management team, manage contracts and procurement plans, and optimize regional category spend to maximize cost savings.




Manage and develop a Local / Indigenous Procurement team that executes all site and region Supply Chain Management Strategies and meet or exceed all KPI’s for the First Nations and Indigenous suppliers by setting clear goals and objectives for the team, providing guidance and training for the team, creating a career path for the Local / Indigenous Procurement team and measuring, monitoring, and providing team and individual feedback on progress toward team and individual goals.
Manage the relationships with First Nations and Indigenous communities and leaders, interface with key clients, leaders and stakeholders, build strong working relationships, ensure visibility of the supply chain vision and operating model, and ensure internal client satisfaction. Address issue escalations in a timely and sensitive manner.




Identify innovative procurement solutions for the First Nations and Indigenous Category that provide safety performance, cost savings and process efficiencies for the organization.
Develop and maintain expert knowledge of regional markets for First Nations and Indigenous suppliers.
Manage the Sourcing Portfolio for First Nations and Indigenous suppliers and develop regional category strategies for First Nations and Indigenous suppliers and spend reduction targets.
Ensure all First Nations and Indigenous vendors and contractors are aware of and adhere to mine safety standards and comply with and are measured against service level expectations, deliver high levels of end customer satisfaction, pass safety audits, meet regulatory requirements, and other related duties to ensure successful relationships with the company.




Develop and implement best practices and train Local / Indigenous Procurement team on the process for the life cycle of contracts from contract initiation to supplier onboarding to contract fulfillment and completion.
Provide input for the First Nations and Indigenous category for the budgeting process, forecast costs, monitor expenditures, and ensure the team remains within agreed yearly budgets.
Ensure adherence to global and regional strategic partnerships, preferred supplier contracts, union agreements, and governance frameworks to maintain compliance at all process levels.

Your training, experience and skills Training:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related field required




Broad business knowledge and focus, ability to recognize issues, problems and capitalize on opportunities.
Familiarity with Indigenous procurement policies and practices is required.
Experience:
Extensive leadership experience in SC in international mining environments or other related sectors including leadership experience in sourcing management.
Demonstrated successes in attracting and retaining a high-performing and diversified leadership team, creating a teamwork environment built on coaching, development and accountability for achieving results.
Proven experience in Indigenous engagement and Indigenous consultation processes, as well as experience with community development programs and social impact monitoring.

Working conditions and location Preferred location in Vancouver, Canada, or Canada remote.
Must be able to Travel to the Canadian sites will be required infrequently.
Collaboration and interaction are required across Regional Mining Operations, Social Performance, Global Supply Chain and Finance organizations, and Global Enterprise Shared Services teams as well as across other service and operational areas of Newmont across multiple time zones.

The expected salary range for this role is CAD $ 132,000 - $173,250 CAD. This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s pay history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about pay history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
