As part of the Child, Youth & Emerging Adult Program (CYEAP), Child, Youth and Family Services (CYFS) provides care and treatment to children and youth between the ages of 6 and 24. Clients and their families served by CYFS are offered specialized services and customized care across an inpatient, day treatment, and outpatient continuum of care. These services are closely aligned with our Research Centres including the McCain Centre for Child, Youth and Family Mental Health and the Cundill Centre for Child and Youth Depression.
CYFS is currently seeking a full-time, contract (9 months) Social Worker 2, in the Youth addictions and Concurrent Disorders Service in Child Youth and Family Services.



This position is part of a provincial initiative to address substance misuse among children & youth. Reporting to the Manager, the successful candidate will collaborate on an evidence-based curriculum and program development. Practicing within a patient- and family-centered care, collaborative approach. The role will include provision of assessment and treatment for children, youth ages 11 to 21, and their parents and caregivers affected by problematic substance use. The position involves: individual assessments, treatment planning, limited case management, and provision of treatment (both virtual and in-person) group facilitation and education.
The incumbent will be able to work with clients from diverse populations, and demonstrate a harm reduction, recovery-oriented and trauma-informed approach to care. The incumbent will ensure that care is coordinated where multiple services are involved. The incumbent will contribute to program development and support continuous quality improvement. Candidates capable of providing supervision of students (or working toward those qualifications)



within their respective discipline are an asset, and may also contribute to teaching of other health professionals. The incumbent will also participate in the research activities of the program. Workload data entry is a job requirement. The incumbent will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. Other related duties as assigned. Some evening hours are required. This position is located at the Queen Street Site.
The successful candidate will possess a Masters degree in social work combined with 3 years of post-graduate, direct clinical experience in the provision of mental health and/or addictions treatment.



The candidate must show proof of registration and be a member in good standing with The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and be eligible for an adjunct faculty appointment with faculties of Social Work that have affiliation agreements with CAMH. Formal training and demonstrated knowledge in concurrent disorders, harm reduction and evidence based treatment models (motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioural therapy etc) are critical, with three (3) or more years of specialized clinical experience working with complex and challenging youth within this age group and their families is required. Strong skills in group facilitation, individual and family counseling, clinical assessment and treatment are essential. Knowledge of community resources in substance abuse and mental health treatment within the youth sector is needed. Candidates must be capable of providing supervision of Master of Social Work students,



collaborating with faculties of social work on special projects related to the development of the social work field, contributing to the development of best practices unique to the social work field and teaching of other professionals.
Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively (verbal and written) are required. Demonstrated ability, knowledge and skills in addictions, concurrent disorders, group work, clinical assessment and treatment, harm reduction and brief treatment are required. The candidate will also have experience and competence in the provision of virtual care for both individual and group treatment. Knowledge exchange skills and knowledge of community resources are also required. In addition, candidates will possess fundamental knowledge and application of the recovery model and other current best practices.



The ability to provide culturally competent service to clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds is essential. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
