Job Overview:

The Project Engineer, Stations will play a key role in the successful delivery of the Surrey Langley SkyTrain project. Reporting to the Technical Manager, Stations, this position is responsible for reviewing the technical submittals from the Stations Project Co. and providing critical technical support throughout the design and construction phases of the project. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including the Owner’s Engineer team, transit operators, and external agencies, ensuring that all technical requirements and design specifications are met.

Key Accountabilities:

- Reviews the stations design technical submittals (architectural, civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, etc) and prepares responses to technical queries from Stations Project Contractor.




- Works closely with the Owner’s Engineer team in the technical submittal review process, including review of comments from external stakeholders (e.g. municipalities).
- Participates in the discussion with transit operator on the station operational requirements and liaison with external stakeholders (e.g. Fire Services Department) on station requirements.
- Monitors, tracks and reviews the contractor’s technical and design plans, methodologies, documents, drawings and scheduling changes.
- Manages the internal review process by delegating reviewing responsibilities among the project team, drafting and consolidating review comments for approval, and distributing to the Stations Project Contractor.




- Provides support on technical issues related to station design submissions and technical queries from Stations Project Contractor.
- Collects, analyzes and summarizes information, monitors compliance, and prepares project status reports.
- Reviews engineering deliverables and initiates appropriate corrective action to address issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Attends technical meetings with internal and external stakeholders and prepares meeting minutes.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor of Engineering or Architectural degree and experience in project management, construction management, or engineering design or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preference may be given to applicants who are registered, or eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC) or Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC)
- Valid BC Driver’s license.




- Good understanding of contract language and administration.
- Demonstrated ability to work well individually and as a member of a team.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
