PPD-005 - Senior Security Specialist

Reporting to the Manager, Network Services, the Senior Security Specialist is responsible for leading the transition to a unified network access control (NAC) solution. The outstanding candidate will possess strong expertise in Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and hands-on experience with migrating ClearPass and Forescout environments to Cisco ISE! The ideal individual will have a deep understanding of security best practices, NAC, and the ability to manage sophisticated migration projects in enterprise environments.

This contract role is based in Vancouver, BC in a hybrid work environment or can be performed fully remote.

Responsibilities

Be a courageous safety leader,



adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures

Design, configure, deploy, and lead Cisco ISE solutions to secure network access and implement security policies

Leverage Cisco ISE features such as profiling, posture assessment, and authentication to meet organizational security requirements

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Cisco ISE deployments

Assist the Teck technology owner in the migration of ClearPass and Forescout environments to Cisco ISE

Conduct assessments of existing ClearPass and Forescout configurations and develop a comprehensive migration strategy

Ensure seamless transition with minimal downtime while maintaining security and compliance standards

Define and detail standard processes for NAC policies and ensure alignment with organizational goals

Optimize NAC for wired, wireless, and VPN environments; security will focus on Tags rather than IP/VLAN assignment

Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including network, IT, and security operations, to ensure successful integration

Deliver training and mentorship to internal teams on Cisco ISE operations and standard processes





Build and maintain detailed documentation for migration plans, configurations, and operational processes

Provide periodic updates to partners on project progress and post-migration performance

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

CCNP-Security, CCIE Security or Cisco Certified Specialist - Security Core are preferred

Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco ISE in enterprise environments

Confirmed expertise in migrating ClearPass and Forescout solutions to Cisco ISE

Solid grasp of NAC principles, including 802.1X , RADIUS, TACACS+, and posture assessment

Familiarity with network protocols and security technologies such as VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs

Experience running large-scale, multi-site NAC implementations





Knowledge of compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, PCI DSS)

Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible) to streamline NAC operations is considered an asset

Familiarity with other Cisco security products such as Umbrella, Duo, or Firepower is advantageous

Project management skills or certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL) is considered an asset
