Salary range: $76,000 to $95,000 per year

Primary Focus

We are currently seeking candidates for 2 new Program Officer positions to support our Post-Market Drug Evaluation and Pharmaceutical Reviews teams.

The Program Officer role involves ensuring effective communication,



collaboration, analysis, and coordination to support critical program activities. The Program Officer addresses program development needs, resolves daily operational issues, and facilitates the flow of information across teams. Both positions require close collaboration with various contributing partners, including managers, project coordinators, program development officers, and the Director, to meet operational requirements and ensure the efficient functioning of the respective programs.

What do the daily responsibilities look like?

On any given day, the Program Officer will:

- Day-to-day operations

- prioritize day-to-day needs and coordinate activities such as planning, policy research projects, and special initiatives
- ensure effective communication channels, assist in developing materials (e.g., project briefs, protocols,



reports, and meeting documents), and provide operational support to team members
- organize and attend meetings, manage project initiation and development processes, and foster collaboration as well as serve as a primary contact to update contributing partners on project status, deliverables, and critical topics, helping to position Canada’s Drug Agency as a leader in the field
- collaborate with Program Development Officers, the Research Exchange Specialist, and the Scientific Advisor to identify process gaps and develop streamlined approaches as well as formalize procedures, address issues, and capture results to enhance program development operations
- contribute to team reports and facilitate input collection from contributing partners, including clinicians, content experts, patients, industry partners, and advisory committees,



on specific projects or program direction

- External communications:

- respond to requests from external contributing partners on topic identification
- consult with and build relationships with members of expert and advisory committees
- present informational materials to key audiences (e.g., expert and advisory committees, Horizon Scans)
- draft briefs, policies, procedures, and other communications for external use

- Internal communications:

- develop and deliver briefs, policies, procedures, and presentations for internal use
- coordinate efforts across teams, initiating actions that require negotiation, facilitation, and influence, and securing commitments
- engage in open dialogue and collaboration across units within Canada’s Drug Agency and with counterparts in other programs to ensure integrated and effective communication





Is this the right role for you?

The Program Officer will likely have:

- a graduate degree in a health-related discipline (e.g., epidemiology, pharmacy, pharmaceutical policy)
- experience in health technology assessment (HTA)
- knowledge of the drug review landscape
- minimum of 2 to 4 years in program or research coordination roles
- proven experience leading groups, working with contributing partners, and building strategic relationships
- exceptional organizational, project management, and communication skills (written and oral)
- analytical, critical thinking, and strategic planning abilities
- proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
- familiarity with health care systems and medical terminology
- strong networking and interpersonal capabilities; sound judgment, initiative,



and adaptability to shifting priorities; and the ability to work independently, manage confidential matters discreetly, and perform effectively under pressure.
