One of Canada’s Most Trusted Investment Brands.
At Picton Mahoney Asset Management, being alternative isn’t just what we do—it’s who we are.
Founded by industry pioneer David Picton, we’ve spent 20 years challenging conventional wisdom and redefining the investing landscape. As one of Canada’s most trusted investment brands, we are proudly independent—privately run, 100% employee-owned,
and deeply committed to delivering results for our clients.
Thinking Altnernatively is in Our DNA.
With a team of 160 bold thinkers—one-third dedicated solely to investment management—we are specialists, not generalists. Managing $12 billion for institutional and retail clients, we navigate markets with conviction, resilience, and a forward-thinking approach.
We’re more than investors — we’re innovators. We challenge traditional investment mindsets, constantly pushing the boundaries to achieve our mission: To bring greater certainty to investors.
Our success is built on four guiding principles:
· Treat investors’ money like our own.
· Redefine the way investors invest.
· Be human—always approachable.
· Succeed together, one investment at a time.
These aren’t just words—they define how we think, how we invest, and how we work.
Now, we’re entering our next chapter. We’re transforming our brand and reshaping the way the world invests. If you think alternatively, embrace an entrepreneurial spirit, and thrive in a dynamic,
bureaucracy-free environment, join us and be part of what’s next.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic, strategic, and entrepreneurial leader to join our firm as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), responsible for overseeing and executing our engineering, product, and IT functions for both Picton Mahoney Asset Management’s business and Second Engine (a division of Picton Mahoney), which is SaaS platform dedicated to delivering high-quality portfolio construction insights to wealth advisors through consulting, digital self-serve tools, and research services.
This role is perfect for an accomplished leader who is eager to take a visionary step in their career. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in change management and overseeing architecture and engineering for enterprise-wide technology platforms,
with particular experience leading SaaS technology platforms. A proven track record of driving innovation and scaling AI technology in high-growth environments, particularly within Financial Services or SaaS sectors, is essential.
This highly hands-on role requires fluency in all technology disciplines and the ability to foster cross-team collaboration as we scale. While executive-level experience is valuable, we are most focused on your potential to excel in this role. As CTO, you will be instrumental in advancing our technology strategy, managing large-scale developments, and fostering a high-performance, innovative culture to support both PMAM’s business and Second Engine’s growth.
You’ll have the opportunity to learn and lead
- Develop and evolve a technology strategy aligned with business goals across PMAM and its corporate entities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to drive company-wide initiatives, ensuring alignment between technology strategy and roadmaps, and business needs for all entities.
- Integrate cutting-edge AI solutions to optimize resources, supporting both the SaaS platform’s growth and PMAM’s investment strategies.
- Oversee the development and scaling of technical solutions working closely with teams to ensure successful delivery and impact.
- Foster innovation and deliver exceptional results across engineering, product, and IT teams.
- Lead change management initiatives that optimize processes and drive innovation in both the asset management and SaaS spaces.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on the executive team, defining clear priorities and balancing short-term goals with long-term vision.
- Develop a comprehensive technology strategy that addresses PMAM’s core business and the evolving needs of its business entities.
- Drive AI solutions for investment strategies, risk management, and operational efficiency.
- Lead the Technology team, fostering cross-discipline collaboration and ensuring clear communication and alignment of goals.
- Collaborate with the Chief Information Officer on infrastructure strategy, ensuring data security, management, and governance compliance.
- Guide infrastructure strategy for technical excellence, security, and scalability.
- Oversee IT resource allocation across functions to align with organizational priorities, optimizing efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress and success.
- Partner with the VP of Engineering to manage the development team responsible for technical projects related to proprietary systems.
What we’re looking for
- Proven leadership and execution experience in SaaS, database, AI, or similar roles, ideally in financial services or asset management.
- Experience as a senior engineering leader, overseeing architecture and engineering for enterprise-wide technology platforms, with a focus on SaaS.
- Comprehensive understanding of software engineering, including languages, frameworks, methodologies, and industry trends.
- Expertise in AI execution and scaling of technical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts into business strategies.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance in financial services.
- Ability to guide strategic planning, process optimization, and team growth
This is an opportunity to step into a leadership role where you can influence change, drive innovation, and guide teams toward success, while continuously evolving your skillset and making a significant impact.
