Strategic Communications Advisor
Policy and Advocacy Division
Full-time Permanent (Hybrid: 2 days/week in office, 3 days/WFH)
Target Hiring Range: $90,305 – $101,593

The OHA is seeking a Strategic Communications Advisor to join its dynamic Strategic Communications team and assume responsibility for a diverse portfolio of work.

The ideal candidate is an experienced communications professional who is adaptable, collaborative and outcome focused. A strategic thinker who can create and execute impactful communications plans, has exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a good understanding of issues facing hospitals. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a strong sense of accountability for your work and the service you and your team provide to colleagues, OHA members, and system stakeholders.

The Position:

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Communications and Brand Strategy, the Strategic Communications Advisor is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies that enhance the OHA’s brand, promote its strategic initiatives, and engage key stakeholders. Your responsibilities will include:

Strategic Planning and Execution

- Serve as lead for organization-wide communications planning.




- Create and execute comprehensive communications plans that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Act as an extension of internal teams to support the development and implementation of strategic initiatives providing proactive strategic advice, guidance and support as needed.
- Make recommendations for delivering optimal content and formats for different communication vehicles and audiences.
- Monitor and analyze communications efforts, providing regular reports on the effectiveness of strategies and campaigns. Advise on improvements needed to optimize performance as appropriate.
- Project manage initiatives, including day-to-day execution, ensuring they are completed on time and to the highest quality.
- Proactively identify new opportunities for promotions and marketing.
- Leverage knowledge of AI technologies and trends,



with enthusiasm for exploring and using AI-driven tools to enhance communications and digital content strategies.

Stakeholder Engagement

- Demonstrate superior member service and consultation skills while working closely with key internal and external stakeholders to develop impactful content.
- Liaise and build relationships with hospital communicators across the province.
- Identify member needs/areas of interest and lead the planning and delivery of (virtual and in-person) events bringing together hospital members from across the province.
- Plan and coordinate events, including press conferences, product launches, and community outreach programs as required.
- Prepare and present updates on OHA initiatives and other relevant content to internal and external stakeholders including hospital leadership.

Corporate Communications





- Develop and master writing in the OHA’s voice and tone to create stand-out content to support organizational initiatives.
- Write, edit, and produce high-quality content across various channels, including press releases, letters/invitations, presentations, emails, website copy, social media posts, articles, interviews etc.
- Support member engagement and knowledge transfer initiatives by positioning OHA’s learning programs and resources as valuable sources of information for members.
- Review, analyze and edit reports and papers on complex health care issues and produce comprehensive communications materials (e.g., key messages, Q & As)
- Develop recommendations to improve team and organizational processes.
- Keeps abreast of the changing health care environment and proactively identify marketing and communication opportunities.





The Candidate:

We’re looking for a candidate with a degree/diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or equivalent. Four to six years of progressive experience in hospital or health care communications with extensive writing experience is required.

You have demonstrated experience in strategic communications– creating and executing campaigns across a range of platforms and for varying audiences. You are a strategic thinker with a passion for creativity and storytelling. You possess strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with impeccable attention to detail. You have experience interacting with executive leaders and staff in hospitals and health care as well as external consultants and system stakeholders.

An excellent project manager, the successful candidate will be intuitive, team-oriented,



able to manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines, and accustomed to working in a dynamic, high-pressure environment. A collaborative team player able to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. You should be adaptable and resourceful, with a willingness to take on diverse tasks and responsibilities beyond the core job description as needed.
