Our client, the National Aboriginal Capital Corporations Association, is a network of over 50 Indigenous Financial Institutions (IFIs) dedicated to stimulating economic growth for all Indigenous people in Canada through building IFI capacity and fostering Indigenous business development. They are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to fill the role of Procurement and Employment Liaison. As a key player, you'll forge meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations, unlock procurement opportunities, and drive Indigenous employment and economic development in the National Capital RegionDuties may include but are not limited to:Develop and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities,
organizations, and businesses to promote procurement opportunities and support Indigenous employment and economic developmentProvide information and support to Indigenous businesses and individuals on procurement processes, systems, and opportunitiesIdentify and address barriers to Indigenous participation in procurement opportunities and provide support to overcome these barriersCollaborate with government and corporate procurement officials to identify procurement opportunities and support Indigenous employment and economic developmentFacilitate access to skills training, financial assistance, housing, and other supports to enhance Indigenous employability and economic developmentDevelop and maintain a database of Indigenous businesses and individuals interested in procurement opportunitiesOrganize and facilitate workshops, training sessions, and other events to promote Indigenous procurement and employment opportunitiesQualifications:Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Community/Employment Development, Procurement, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
Preference for a university degreeProven experience in program administration, project management, and Indigenous policy developmentPersons of Indigenous ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, section 24 (1))Fluency with Indigenous languages (Anishinaabe or Mohawk) considered a strong assetKnowledge of administrative functions, including procurement, finance, and employment developmentExcellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutionsStrong leadership and interpersonal skills, with experience in building relationships and working with diverse stakeholdersSelf-motivation, proactivity, adaptability, and accountabilityExcellent communication, liaison,
and organizational skillsAdvanced Indigenous cross-cultural skills and knowledgeAbility to manage budgets and oversee travel arrangementsAdditional information: Occasional overtime and overnight travel may be requiredThis role involves extensive travel throughout the National Capital Region, covering a 250-300 km radius. You can expect to spend approximately 50% of your time on the road, engaging with Indigenous communities and contacts, and building meaningful relationshipsA valid Ontario G-class driver's license and a clear criminal record (or a pardon) are requiredWork is primarily indoors in a hybrid work environment, with occasional outdoor work at events or project sitesSalary:$73,963 - $76,550 per annum, commensurate with experiencePerks and benefits: Generous time-off policy, including sick days, personal days,
