Our reputable client in the construction industry is hiring a Senior Manager, Estimating and Business Development that plays a crucial role in overseeing the entire estimating process while driving business growth and expanding client relationships in the industry. This is a permanent, full-time role based out of their Ottawa office (fully on site). Key ResponsibilitiesManage and mentor the estimating team, assign responsibilities, and provide training and support.Supervise the preparation of detailed project budgets, estimates, and scopes of work.Review bid documents to identify risks and opportunities, communicating insights to senior management.Ensure accurate cost estimates, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses,
while maintaining competitive pricing.Solicit, evaluate, and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers to secure the best pricing.Develop standardized estimating procedures and leverage PowerBI for data-driven decision-making.Work closely with operations, contractors, engineers, and architects to improve estimate accuracy and project outcomes.Lead prequalification submissions, ensure tender documents are complete, and oversee key purchase orders.Act as a company ambassador, attending industry and client events to strengthen relationships and expand business opportunities.Stay updated on market conditions, competitor activities, and best practices in estimating and construction management.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management preferred10 - 15 years’ experience in construction estimating and project managementExperience in client relations, bid strategy, and market analysis to drive business growth.Have or develop an in-depth knowledge of labour methods/materials for drywall, concrete,
or carpentryExcellent relationships with sub-contractors and material suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and advantagesStrong leadership, analytical, and communication skills are essential for success in this role
