Director of Operations / Associate Vice PresidentSudbury, OntarioPermanent, full-timeSalary Range $130-150K Employee benefits including medical, dental Monday to Friday scheduleCompetitive Vacation Our client is a school bus transportation company that employs approximately 120 school bus drivers in the Sudbury area. We are seeking an experienced Director of Operations / Associate Vice President to provide leadership to the Operations staff and Driver team. This role will also manage the coordination of drivers, vehicles and routes to provide responsive service to our customers. Key Responsibilities:· Manage day to day operations of the site, overseeing scheduled home to school routes,
and charter services· Oversee route optimization and scheduling to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness· Monitor and manage operational expenses to align with budgetary goals· Analyze and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including route efficiency, on-time performance, and cost per route· Coordinate fleet maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure regulatory compliance· Develop and implement strategies to improve logistical operations and reduce costs· Identify areas for operational improvements and cost savings without compromising service quality· Ensure the safety of passengers and employees· Provide superior levels of proactive customer service· Coach and develop the operations team, encouraging and recognizing superior performance· Handle performance concerns· Prioritize and delegate short term tasks and objectives· Follow up on assigned tasks and duties· Ensure policies are being applied in a fair and consistent manner· Resolve all matters relating to Drivers in a fair and expedient manner· Manage and oversee driver payroll.
Ensure payroll reconciliation is completed daily · Provide ongoing assistance to schools regarding general transportation issues· Regularly visit schools to determine transportation needs and level of satisfaction· Act as liaison between schools, boards and drivers· Other duties as assigned Key Skills:· Highly skilled at nurturing, supporting and encouraging staff and drivers· Able to read and respond to the needs of the Transportation departments, schools and parents· Able to provide performance feedback· Ability to mediate conflict, set priorities, and monitor performance· Ability to build a team and create a team environment · Ability to create and implement procedures· Ability to gain commitment from staff and drivers· Experience delegating tasks and following up for completion· Experience conducting meetings· Strong communication skills· Understands and is passionate about customer serviceQualifications:· Proven management and administrative skills· Experience leading in a unionized environment would be an asset · Additional training in transportation, logistics or business would be advantageous along with computer literacy and familiarity with the student transportation industry.
