The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a part-time, contract (3 months)
Research Assistant 2. The Research Assistant will work collaboratively as part of a team of researchers of the Institute for Mental Health Policy Research (IMHPR), a key driver in building the knowledge base for policy decisions, development of mental health interventions, and health system improvement.
The Research Assistant will primarily assist with a SSHRC-funded study investigating the motivations for violence and offending among individuals deemed Not Criminally Responsible on account of Mental Disorder (NCRMD). The Research Assistant will be involved in all aspects of the study, including chart reviews; coding the study measures based on file review; provision of monthly reports on interrater reliability and study progress; data entry and maintenance; taking part in bimonthly research meetings; assisting in literature searches; preparation of presentations and aiding in manuscript preparation.

The successful candidate will have at minimum three (3) years of Community College with a background in health or social sciences. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, combined with a minimum of one year of research experience in forensic mental health. Previous experience in an academic healthcare setting is an asset, as is knowledge of the forensic mental health system in Ontario. Also required is a superior aptitude for scholarly activities, including academic writing, statistical analysis and proficiency in SPSS, and familiarity with commonly used quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Demonstrated proficiency in various PC hardware and software,
including Windows XP and Microsoft Office standard applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is also required. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are required as is the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, inter-professional team environment.
