The Opportunity:
As an Environmental Risk Assessor , you will play a key role in supporting human health and ecological risk assessment projects. Working with both public and private clients, you will contribute to a variety of environmental projects, ensuring regulatory compliance and providing strategic risk-based solutions. This role also involves managing risk assessments, leading project teams, and mentoring junior staff.
What You'll Be Doing:
Conduct and manage human health and ecological risk assessments as well as risk management plan development.
Provide strategic advice on risk-based approaches for redevelopment, remediation, and risk management.
Lead project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, budgeting,
and client communication.
Oversee project coordination, subcontractor management, and technical leadership for public and private sector clients.
Develop project proposals, including scope, schedule, and budget, while assessing feasibility for various risk assessment approaches (e.g., MGRA, Tier 3 RA).
Design, manage, and execute soil vapor and indoor air quality assessment programs.
Support data management, contaminant fate & transport modeling, exposure modeling, and quantitative risk calculations.
Ensure health and safety compliance for all personnel under the supervision of the project manager.
Engage with regulatory agencies and stakeholders, presenting findings and advocating on behalf of clients.
Collaborate across disciplines (e.g., water/wastewater, geotechnical, biology/ecology) on multi-disciplinary projects such as site development, environmental remediation, landfill development, and environmental restoration.
Mentor and provide training to junior and intermediate staff.
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
University degree (Master’s preferred)
in environmental science, toxicology, or chemical engineering.
Minimum 6 years of experience in environmental risk assessment.
QPRA designation under O.Reg 153/04.
Experience in environmental consulting is an asset.
Strong knowledge of Provincial, Federal, and local regulations, guidelines, and standards.
